I am wondering if something recently changed for the option to allow auto-accepting on meeting invites to a shared mailbox? We kind of use a few shared mailboxes for various purposes, one being our departmental vacation calendar and another is for some field sales reps in booking out their travel plans so people know who is in the office and if not where in the country they are.
I know this was working before the holidays as we booked out our vacation time without having to go in and manually accept the meeting invites to populate the calendar but now fast forward a month or so and it isnt auto accepting it and I dont even see that option anywhere on the mailbox.
I realize I could set up a server side rule to accept the meetings but would prefer not to do that if there is an option on the mailbox itself? Also wondering if this was some intentional change for some reason? As long as the meeting request is in your inbox, Outlook will tentatively put it on your calendar. This is because in preview mode you can view today's calendar the meeting request. Microsoft did this because they found people would always go to their calendar when they received a meeting request to see if they were available or not during the time the meeting was to be scheduled.
They did this to make it easier when viewing an incoming meeting request to see if it conflicted with any other meetings already on your calendar. If you hover over the meeting in your calendar it will say something like this meeting has not been accepted yet.
If you delete the meeting request from your inbox, it will not appear on your calendar.
If you didn't accept the meeting then technically you didn't miss a meeting either and whoever sent the meeting request should have followed up with you if you didn't accept or decline as their meeting request would show the invitees and who has accepted and who hasn't.
Now, if you have auto accept turned on under the advanced menu, scheduling resource, then that would cause it to be accepted without you knowing.
Or this can be accomplished with a rule as well. Could you check to be sure you have the latest build on Officeopen any office app on that users computer and go to file then choose update and be sure it is on the latest build. Also any Windows 7 updates. Thank you for the suggestion will mark that down for some future issue that hasnt come up yet. This is weird though because something definitely changed because we used one shared mailbox to book out vacation time for over a year and never had manually accept anything.
From past experience this has happened once or twice to me on Exchange and we managed multiple client setups with quite a number of users and there would be no relating issue to it or explanation as to why this has stopped; hence why I know this command is normally my "go to" solution.
